What your air conditioning estimate should look like
When a company comes out, they should perform at least a basic heat load calculation to determine the heating and cooling needs of your home or business. This process will prevent under or over sizing of your air conditioning equipment, and ensure your electric bills dont get out of hand. Secondly, you should be able to tell how much your going to pay out the door, how much in rebates are available to you through your utility company and if there are any federal or state tax credits available on your equipment. Also, in nearly every situation its a good idea to replace most of the old equipment attached to your air conditioner. This includes your thermostat, your sheet metal roof connections, the equipment stand, and high voltage electrical equipment. Lastly, beware of companies that tell you the equipment normally runs $15,000-$20,000. Lots of salesmen will offer your fake rebates and discounts to bring the price down dramatically, but your still typically paying more than you should for equipment that may be inferior to the brands that Valley Heating, Cooling and Appliances offers.
